Kentucky has one of its two U.S. Senate seats up for election in 2010. Incumbent Jim Bunning, Republican, has decided not to run for re-election, so there are a number of candidates from both parties running for their party’s nomination. This is a statewide race in which all registered Kentucky Democrats may vote for one candidate in the Democratic Senate Primary and all registered Kentucky Republicans may vote for one candidate in the Republican Senate Primary. The winners from each party will then run against each other in the November 2nd General Election.

Are you registered to vote?
If you have not yet registered to vote, it is too late to vote in this Primary election, but you can still register to vote in the November election. Ask a KFTC organizer for a voter registration card or visit your local county clerk.
You can check your voter registration status and where you go to vote at the Kentucky State Board of Elections Voter Information Center.
Why the low response rate?
It's a good question.
We give candidates over a month to respond to our KFTC Candidate Surveys, letting them know that we will publish the answers word-for-word in our Voter Guide which goes out to over 20,000 people. We then follow up about a dozen times total by phone, mail, and email.
We believe that it is necessary to the democratic process for people to have access to information about candidates and where they stand on important issues.
